"So who are you and why are you doing this?"

To me, scenic design is the creation of world.  It is context. The setting of every show contributes to its meaning, as well as its relevance to our own lives. I have been fortunate enough to work in spaces in which scenic design goes hand-in-hand with construction. I've gotten to learn how to transfer ideas into truth.

Scenic design is also part of what makes acting so believable; it should never inhibit or overshadow what performers create, but rather produce a more believable stage to interact with.  When a show, an audience, and a set work together effectively, the audience becomes a part of the action because they are exclusively present in that world.

When I'm asked the classic question about why I do theater, my answer is simple: to create worlds in which untold stories can be actualized.

I hope to continue creating the unreal.

"Who am I? Well..."

I am a first-year social sciences student at the University of Chicago.  I've been fortunate to have my hand in every part of the design and direction process.  As such, I've learned a few things.
